Producing a livestream with an
audience retention rate of 88%

Lakeland is a family-owned British retailer, which has
specialised in kitchenware and homeware for over 50 years.
It had been unable to run its usual in-store events since the
pandemic, but was keen to continue offering high-quality
experiences for Lakeland customers: it turned to Rhapsody
and our partner CS Media to produce a livestream.

We were called upon to help with the production of an
exclusive livestream event for myLakeland members.
Hosted by a Great British Bake Off winner and a Lakeland
Ambassador, the one-hour baking presentation showed
viewers how to make a homemade chocolate cake.
Rhapsody and CS Media took care of all the pre-production
and project management. This involved setting up and
managing a ticketing platform (including query response),
as well as the production of a pre-event holding page with
deliverables spanning everything from imagery, logos and
graphics to an advert with music.
Together we were also responsible for planning and
preparing the event, from hair and makeup, to rigging and
testing. On the day, we organised the on-site filming of the
live event, from lighting, visuals and sound to live
production and direction.
The livestream ran for one hour and had a high
retention rate with over 88% of viewers watching the
entire production. We also received glowing post-event
feedback from Lakeland as well as its participating
customers: this had been the first online event for 31%
of participants and 98% of those surveyed said they
would attend future live events.

Customers left positive comments such as: “It was fantastic.
I thought it wouldn’t teach me anything new and that it
would be full of product placement but it was a sheer
delight.” The event also scored an excellent Net Promoter
Score of 52 (an index which ranges from -100 to +100). By
combining our expertise with that of CS Media, we helped
drive brand engagement and captivated the Lakeland
audience with a memorable digital experience.
